More good days, more bad days, more experience

This is one of those posts. You know when you just write and don't bother reading through it to make sure you're writing in perfect English because you just feel like you need to ramble on? Yeah, that.

I had an interesting conversation today and it was largely revolved around positivity, but not just that, the acceptance of negativity too and, ultimately, experiencing more.

This might seem very vague but hopefully it'll be relateable to at least a few of you...

What was said, in a nutshell, is that while we sometimes avoid saying yes and doing things because it's something different/new/you're not entirely sure on the people, in reality, the worst that can happen is that it's a bad day. That's literally it. We can sometimes shy away from things we think might not be enjoyable because maybe we can't be bothered or whatever, but really, the worst that can happen is that you have a bad time, you come home, crawl into bed and that's it - day over. Done. You don't have to do it again if you don't want to and you can safely say you gave it a shot.

It's so easy to get stuck into a rut; to always go to the same pubs, bars, restaurants etc. To always be around the same people and shop in the same shopping centres.

We get stuck in the mentality that if we do something new and we don't like it then it's a day wasted and I'm not sure that's the best way to live. I don't think we're supposed to stick to what we know

So someone said this whole 'it's just a bad day' thing to me today and I wanted to jot it down, so I could remember them and in the hope I'll realise that if it all goes wrong and nothing is as planned then who gives a damn? It's just a bad day.

The whole thing kind of reminded me of the quote
'I'd rather live a life of 'oh wells' than 'what ifs'.
Anyway, they say to practice what you preach so look out for me blogging about new experiences.

  1. I LOVE THIS POST! Everyone should just say 'yes' more often. Whoever said that "it's just a bad day" thing is very wise and I'll try my best to remember it. I might even write it down somewhere. Posts like this make me happy, thank you Kerry!

  10. I completely agree! The quote at the end is literally what I think about every time I'm making a decision :) The thing is that even if you end up making a bad decision or something goes wrong, I've seen it ends up leading to some thing that's bigger than you could have imagined, so we should take as many risks and make as many mistakes as possible! I love these train-of-thought type blog posts :) Thanks for dropping a comment on my blog :) xo

This Blog post pretty much sums up my interrailing experience, everything possible went wrong and I was completely out of my comfort zone but I managed to explore the beautiful sites in europe whilst doing it. It couldnt of been a more terrible trip and more amazing at the same time! xxx
